Bentley Continental GTC Speed

Bentley has released the first official pictures of the planned upgrade to the Continental GTC, the GTC ‘Speed’. Completing the range of updated Continental’s, the GTC Speed shares its engine with its coupé brother. It’s 6.0 litre W12 kicks out a staggering 600bhp and 750Nm of torque, enough for acceleration figures from 0 – 62mph of just 4.5 seconds and a terminal speed of over 200mph. If these figures don’t sound too special to you just remember the GTC Speed weighs two and a half tonnes!

20 Inch alloys and a lower front air intake are among the modifications shared with the other ‘Speed’ models as well as a special tinted mesh in the radiator grille. Meanwhile, wider exhaust pipes, a new lip spoiler and lowered suspension help bring some performance and handling benefits. There’s also the option of adding the largest carbon-ceramic brakes in the world to the specifications.

Porsche Panamera to be presented in Shanghai

Porsche Panamera

Porsche has made it official that the new Panamera will debut in China, at the international motorshow of Shanghai. That’s a bit surprising but when thinking that the IAA in Frankfurt is only middle september, we can understand that Porsche wants to present their finally ready 4 door saloon! Another reason might be the possible buyers in China, probably more than over here, but never underestimate a Porsche!

The cars that will be on the show will have several engines going from the 3.6 liter V6 to the V8 Turbo. There will also be the choice between the 6 speed manual or 7 speed PDK dual clutch gearboxes as seen in the current 911 series. Maybe the hybrid version will be available aswell! When scrolling down you’ll find the full press release!

GTspirit supercar of the year 2008

Supercar of the year 2008

Exactly like we did last year, we held a poll, in our forum, to find out what the supercar of the year 2008 would be. To clear out any possible misunderstanding, all supercars that firstly hit the road as well as the supercars shown in worldpremiere to the public during 2008 on numurous car shows, were elected. The 10th option was ‘other cars’ because the list of stunning cars was just too long to get in one poll, thinking of the Koenigsegg CCXR and the Alfa Romeo 8C Convertible.

The top three has slightly changed but at the very first place it’s again a Lamborghini. We guess that’s not a big surprise after the presentation of the Gallardo LP560-4. It got 18.01% of the votes. The 2nd place is taken by Mercedes-Benz with it’s SL 65 AMG Black Series. The Germans won one place compared to last year. And then to close the top three we get what we can call the biggest surprise, not the the Ferrari California but the Aston Martin V12 Vantage RS.

Geiger Hummer H3 V8 Kompressor

We’ve reported on Geiger tuned cars a couple of times before, but we’ve always neglected to mention their range of Hummer modifications. So, considering Hummer’s current state of neglect (GM have voiced their intentions to sell the brand), Geiger have decided it’s a good time to release images of their H3 V8 Kompressor.

One of the most noticeable features of this beast is the Martini livery lifted straight from the Martini Racing team of the 70’s and 80’s. There’s a new body kit and no rear spare tire also, it seems Geiger aren’t lacking in irony… they’ve even modifying the interior with Carbon Fibre touches. Geiger haven’t released the official weight of the new car, however it probably won’t be much of an improvement on the 5,069lb (2,299kg) of the standard car.

Porsche Cayenne Vantage GTR by 9ff

Porsche Cayenne Vantage GTR

To change the looks of your Porsche there are several places you can go but the best country is Germany. The two biggest tuners out there are 9ff and Gemballa. Both showed impressive stuff during 2008 with the 670 bhp and 600 bhp in a Porsche GT2. Other impressive creations were the GT9-R and the GTR 800 Evo R. Gemballa is known a bit better when it comes to tuning of SUV’s, and that is what 9ff wants to change. They took a Porsche Cayenne in their shop and came out with this stunning looking beast. It go an out put of 725 bhp which makes it a serious bodybuilder. Much more details aren’t know sofar, but we guess that we are convinced with the looks only.

Ginetta G50 going electric

Ginetta G50

The Britisch car-manufacturer Ginetta seems to be the next in the row to go down for the problems with our environment. Probably more will follow. Ginetta is a rather small brand, but most of us probably heard of the G50 before. The current engine is a 3.5 liter V6 producing 300 bhp, but that one will soon be replaced by an electric variant with three bateries. The guys from Ginetta claim that the green G50 has a topspeed of (190 kmh) and that range of the three bateries would be about (400 km). The official presentation will be for late next year, so if you want one soon, you’ll need to take a petrol engine.

BMW E92 M3 vs Porsche 911 Carrera S - Video

BMW E92 - Porsche 911 S

We should think that the BMW E92 M3 is the car of the year, but that doesn’t seem true sofar. Anyway, it has been compared against the Mercedes C63 AMG, Lexus IS-F, Audi RS4 and so on, but a comparision against a Porsche is new.

Both cars run on a 7-speed gearbox and both near to 400 bhp. The difference can be found in the weight, the Porsche is just a little bit lighter but that is leveled by the BMW by having 35 horses more under it’s nose. Another difference can be found in the price, € 57,700 ($ 81,360 -
£ 56,220) for the Porsche, as it is in the test and € 52,140 ($ 73,500 -
£ 50,800) for the BMW. Scroll down and find out which one is the best…!
